Halifax, Nova Scotia – The Thunderbirds have signed forward Mike Burke to a two-year deal. The Brampton, Ontario native completed his fourth season in the National Lacrosse League and first with the Knighthawks last year.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Thunderbirds and the opportunity to introduce Halifax to professional lacrosse,” said Burke. “We have a fantastic group of guys on this team and I can’t wait to start the season. Curt and the organization gave me a great opportunity last year and I look forward to building on that.”
In the 2018-19 season, he posted career highs in goals (15), assists (27) and points (42). Burke picked up his 50th career point on March 15, 2019.
“He was a player who has been in the league before and made an immediate impact once he became a consistent player in our lineup,” said Owner and General Manager Curt Styres. “Having him as a guy other plays can look up to is going to be huge for us in this new market.”
