Sep 21, 2020
(September 21, 2020) Halifax, NS - The Thunderbirds announced today that goaltender Chase Martin has been signed to a one-year agreement. The 27 year-old product from Six Nations, Ontario is a member of the Iroquois Nationals Indoor Lacrosse team that captured silver in last year's World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Langley, BC.
“When management contacted me about coming back out this year it was a no-brainer to sign,” said Martin. “From the minute training camp began last year it was evident everyone is on the same mission. This is a passionate organization from top to bottom and everyone shares the same determination to bring a championship to the East Coast.”
Martin spent time with the Thunderbirds last training camp. Prior to the National Lacrosse League, Martin played for the St. Catherine’s Shockwave in the ALL in 2019. Martin recorded two wins and lead the league with 9.56 goals against average.
Martin recorded his finest season in 2017 as he powered the Six Nations Rivermen to a berth in the President's Cup Finals, finishing the tournament with the top goals-against average (6.18) and a 4-1 record. He was rewarded with First Team All-Goalie honors as the Rivermen took home a silver medal. During the regular season, Martin was honored as the co-recipient of the league's top goaltender award for the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) Senior "B" Men's Lacrosse champs.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to showing up with my best attitude and doing whatever necessary to help take care of some Unfinished Business,” said Martin.
