Thunderbirds Launch Lax 101 Radio Channel

Dec 19, 2019

Fans new to the sport of lacrosse have the ability to learn on the fly, as the Thunderbirds launch an in-game audio streaming channel, teaching fans 'Lacrosse 101' basics.

The multi-channel app will feature play-by-play from the Thunderbirds broadcast team of Pete Dalliday and Pat Gregoire, as well as a Lax 101 channel, geared towards newer fans of the Thunderbirds and box lacrosse.

Local lacrosse ambassador and coach, Mitch Hannigan, will guide fans throughout game play with play by play focused on teaching the sport. Rules of play, explanations of the calls on the field, and history of the game will be accessible to all fans interested in learning more about what they are watching in real-time.

"The Thunderbirds are committed to providing an excellent fan experience for all fans, and providing this type of service is unprecedented," said John Catalano, Thunderbirds President and CEO. "Some have never experienced box lacrosse before, and to learn in real-time will allow fans to gain a better understanding of the fastest and most exciting game on two feet."

Fans may download the Audio Fetch app via the AppStore and GooglePlay for free. Once downloaded, fans within range of Scotiabank Centre will be able to tune in to any of the given channels and join along with the action on the floor.
