Thunderbirds Re-Sign Free Agent Scott Campbell

(July 31, 2020) Halifax, NS – The Thunderbirds announced today that they have signed veteran defenceman and free agent Scott Campbell to a one-year deal.

 

“I want to thank Curt and the team for having this old man back for another year,” said Campbell.  “We had something special going before COVID shut the season down and I am looking forward to building on the success and making a run at the championship this upcoming year. The Halifax community rallying behind the first-year team was unexpected and made coming to the rink so much fun. I am really excited to be back in Halifax for another year!”

 

Campbell finished his 17th season in the National Lacrosse League in 2020.  He collected a team third best 90 loose balls and ranks fourth in all time with the franchise in games played (152).  The defenceman ranks sixth in the franchise in loose balls (701).

 

Drafted 10th overall in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft, Campbell has played for Minnesota, Toronto, Boston, Rochester and Saskatchewan. In his career he has played in 229 games, with 54 goals, 84 assists, 295 penalty minutes and 1017 loose balls.

 

He played for Minnesota in 2005, playing seven games, collecting an assist and 23 loose balls. During his five years with Toronto, during 2006-2011, Scott played in 60 games, scored 16 goals, 18 assists for a total of 34 points and collected 244 loose balls.

 

During his nine years with Rochester, from 2011-2019, he played in 140 games, scored 34 goals, 53 assists, for a total of 87 points and collected 610 loose balls.

 

In 2011 he played for Boston where he played four games and collected an assist and 11 loose balls. In 2019 he played for Saskatchewan where he played eight games, scoring one goal, three assists and collected 19 loose balls.
