Thunderbirds sign Chris Boushy to a One-Year Contract

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (July 19, 2021) The Halifax Thunderbirds have signed forward Chris Boushy to a one-year deal. 

 

“I couldn’t be happier to play for this team and throw on this jersey for another year,” Boushy said. “This team is as special as they come, and I’m really looking forward to getting back to work and do my part to bring a championship to Halifax”

Boushy, 23, finished his sophomore season with seven points (1G, 6A) and 14 loose balls in four regular season games.

 

The Johannesburg, South Africa native was drafted 31st overall in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft by the Saskatchewan Rush. Boushy was acquired by Rochester from the Calgary Roughnecks on March 7, 2019 in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2020 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.

 

In the 2018-19 NLL season, Boushy finished fifth in the NLL in points among rookies with 36 (22G, 14A). He posted a career high seven goals and nine points in his franchise debut on March 15, 2019 with Rochester. Before being traded, Boushy played in eight games with Calgary, posting 14 points (8G, 6A).

 

The right-hander has seen action in 20 regular season games throughout his young NLL career and has 43 points (23G, 20A) and 70 loose balls. Boushy is a graduate of Queen’s University, having played four seasons of college lacrosse in the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA). 

 

Listed at 6-foot-0 and  210 pounds, Boushy played for the Burlington Chiefs in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League (OJALL) in 2017 and 2018, and in 36 regular season games across those two seasons, he recorded 155 points (63G, 92A). In eight postseason contests, he posted 35 points (17G, 18A).
