Thunderbirds Sign Four

The Halifax Thunderbirds announced today that the club has signed four players to one-year contracts.
Forwards Chris Boushy and Brett Draper, Defensemen Owen Freisen, and Goaltender Pete Dubenski are all among the players signed.
Boushy, a right-handed forward, has spent two years in the NLL, and part of two years with the Thunderbirds’ organization. The Queen’s University graduate appeared in four games during the team’s inaugural season scoring one goal and adding six assists and has tallied 43 points in 20 games played over the course of his career.
Nova Scotia native Draper, also a right-handed forward, was selected sixth round, 91st overall, by the Thunderbirds in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft. He spent parts of his junior lacrosse career with the Dartmouth Bandits of the ECJLL, where he won league titles in 2016 & 2017, and the Orangeville Northmen of the OJALL.
Friesen, a right-handed defensemen, was selected third round, 48th overall by the Thunderbirds in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft. He spent all four years of his junior career with the St. Catherine’s Athletics of the OJALL.
Dubenski, a goaltender from Nanaimo, British Columbia, served as backup to starting net-minder Warren Hill during the Thunderbirds inaugural season. He made his NLL debut with the club in 2020, where he posted an 0-3 record, a goals-against average of 12.81, and a save percentage of .729.
