Thunderbirds sign Max Waldbaum to three-year deal

HALIFAX, NS (August 1, 2023) – The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced that the team has signed forward Max Waldbaum to a three-year contract.
“It’s a real dream come true and I’m very grateful to Mr. Styres and the entire Halifax organization for giving me the opportunity to play pro ball,” Waldbaum said. “I look forward to competing and helping the team succeed in any way I can.”
A Denver, Colorado product, Waldbaum started his collegiate career with Division III powerhouse Tufts, spending three years as a member of the Jumbos. He played in 24 carer games for the program, scoring 71 goals and 83 points over that span.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder was named a captain during his final two seasons with the Dolphins and was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List in both 2022 and 2023. During the 2022 campaign, Waldbaum earned SoCon All-Conference First Team honours while also being named an All-American by the USILA, Inside Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse Magazine.
Waldbaum appeared in 30 games for Jacksonville (starting all of those games), scoring 69 goals and 37 assists for 106 points with 53 loose balls and 14 caused turnovers.
