Thunderbirds sign veteran forward, Stephen Keogh, to a One-Year Contract

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (August 16, 2021) - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced they have re-signed veteran forward Stephen Keogh on a one-year contract.
Keogh, 34, wrapped up his ninth NLL season and eighth with the franchise in 2019-20, finishing fourth on the Thunderbirds in points (34) and tied for second in goals (18). He also collected 41 loose balls in those 12 regular season games played.
“I’m excited to be back with Halifax and play in front of the best fans in the league. At this point in my career, I want win a championship and I think the team that Curt (Styres) has put together has a very good opportunity to do so,” said Keogh.
A Syracuse University alum, Keogh was initially selected by the franchise with the second overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. The right-hander was an integral part of the franchise’s three consecutive NLL Cups in his first three NLL seasons, being named to the 2012 NLL All-Rookie Team.
Keogh was traded to the Colorado Mammoth during the 2017 NLL season and reacquired in the 2018-19 NLL season. He has played in 121 regular season games during his nine seasons, posting 370 points (186G, 184A), 414 loose balls, and 17 caused turnovers. In 16 postseason contests, Keogh has 41 points (19G, 22A), 53 loose balls, and four caused turnovers.
Out of Toronto, Ontario, Keogh has won championships at every level. As part of the Orangeville Northmen, he helped the Jr. A team win the Minto Cup in 2008 on the way to being bestowed with tournament MVP honours. Keogh was also an integral part of the Orange’s back-to-back championships in NCAA DI Championships in 2008 and 2009.
